Guillaume Vives is associate professor at the Sorbonne University since September 2010. He graduated from the Ecole Normale Supérieure of Lyon where he obtained the agrégation of chemistry in 2003. He obtained his Ph.D. in 2007 from the University Paul Sabatier, Toulouse, working on the synthesis of a family of rotary molecular motors to be studied at the single molecule level under the supervision of Gwenael Rapenne and Jean-Pierre Launay. From 2007 to 2009, he was a postdoctoral fellow at Rice University working with James M. Tour on the development of functionalized nanovehicles. Then, he worked as a European (ERC) post-doctoral fellow with Nathan McClenaghan on the communication between molecules via photo-controlled ions. Since his appointment in Paris, G. Vives has been working in supramolecular chemistry on the development of cyclodextrin rotaxanes and polyrotaxanes, and on molecular tweezers. He is the project leader for the development of molecular machines based on switchable molecular tweezers (PI ANR JCJC SMARTEES, ANR MULTIFUN, ISIM SwitchGel, Emergence CoMM) and was awarded the Habilitation (accreditation to supervise research) in 2016. He has authored 40 scientific publications (~1500 citations, h-index 24).
